This past weekend (Sept 11-12), we held a 2-day track event at Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, NY. This country-club track is located about 90-min outside of New York City in the Catskills. The 20+ Lotus owners that attended were treated to a nearly-wide-open, 4.1 mile world-class track where they enjoyed a ton of track time.
During lunch, a track-position lesson from a member helped some drivers really shave off even more time. One of our dealers, Bill Thomas of WT Roadsters in Frenchtown, NJ, ended up with the fastest lap of the weekend with a 2:40.7 lap in his Katana2 Elise. That was almost 4 seconds faster than the next fastest car!
Our first Sector111 Track Event on the East Coast was a huge success. Everyone had a great time experiencing a world-class track with a volume of Lotus cars far greater than they ever had in the past. We are already planning a few more events on the East-Coast for next year. A special thanks to the Monticello Motor Club and all of the participants for making this event so much fun and so successful!
Just wanted to thank Shinoo, Bill, Monticello, Tom, and all the other racers who helped make my first track day a success! I know all the questions were probably annoying, but as I'm sure you could tell, I'm a talker!
ReplyDeleteI was able to run a best 2 consecutive laps of 2.55 (then a 3rd ride into the grass lol)on my first track event ever. I credit the middle of the pack time to my 2 day racing school with Skip Barber and the in car instructions I got from Shinoo.
I look forward to seeing the guys from Sector 111 again some day as well as many of the fellow drivers.
For those who missed out, the 1 day price may have seemed high at first, but Saturday was worth 2+ days at any other event from what I'm told. 2 tanks of gas! and a limp to the station after.
My personal suggestions for next year are, have the gate open a little sooner than 30 mins before the driver meeting. We all don't have trailers and need time to unpack every nook and cranny of our car as well as setup our tent ect ect. I'm sure most guys have it down to science, but the newbies need time to figure it all out. I also would have liked to see the track have a brief tutorial of the track via the nice big track map. IE what corners to watch out for and or what gear most use for certain corners. Thank god for Shinoo and the ride along he did with me. I learned a few of the most important track driving habits yet from him. Who would have though 1 notch forward on the seat adjustment would take me from no heal toe to not even having to think about it anymore. Some times it's just very basic stuff that makes all the difference.
Thanks again to all who came and all who helped me.
